Planned Power Outages, December 26-30, 2021 & January 8, 2022

November 16, 2021

Facilities Management will be conducting annual maintenance and repairs to critical infrastructure on campus, requiring three separate power outages that will affect multiple buildings over the winter break.

• December 26-30, 2021

  No heat all day.

• December 27, 2021

  No power from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

• January 8, 2022

  No power from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

No one will be allowed to enter affected buildings during these power outages.

Emergency power will be available at the usual locations.

Anyone with equipment in these buildings should take the necessary precautions to ensure it will not be affected during the shutdown. Please make sure that all computers and any sensitive equipment are turned off to prevent the loss of critical information.

Construction Fences, Closed Sidewalks, Closed Parking Lot Entrances, December 3, 2021 & January 12, 2022

November 15, 2021

During the replacement of the University’s Primary Electrical Distribution Unit, the campus core will run on a temporary power source, which will require running a power conduit down Rutford Ave. and the Pedestrian Promenade from Synergy Park Blvd. to the Central Energy Plant (CEP). Ramps will be installed to allow crossing over some sections of the conduit. The rest of it will be fenced off for safety.

A section of the Pedestrian Promenade, from the Physics Building (PHY) to Engineering and Computer Science North (ECSN) will be blocked off, as will the sidewalk between the Sciences Building (SCI) and the Science Learning Center (SLC). The Rutford Ave. entrance to Lot T will also be closed during this time.

Part of Lot C Closed for Maintenance, October 18-22

October 18, 2021

The southern portion of Lot C will be closed for maintenance from Monday, October 18 through Friday, October 22, weather permitting. Please be mindful of work crews while driving near the lot.

Alternate parking is available in the northern portion of Lot C, Lot B, and Parking Structure 1.

Facilities Way and Lot S Closed Starting June 8

June 4, 2021

Beginning Tuesday, June 8, 2021, Facilities Way will close for construction, and the adjacent Lot S will also be closed.

During this time, drivers approaching the University from Synergy Park Blvd. will need to enter campus through N Floyd Rd. or Rutford Ave. Callier Center Richardson (CR) and Lot N will only be accessible from Synergy Park Blvd. The Facilities Management (FM) and University Surplus buildings will be accessible by going from N Floyd Rd. to Lot A, then passing to the east side and behind the Police (PD) building.

This project is expected to be completed in late August, weather permitting.

Brief Power Outage on May 23

May 13, 2021

Facilities Management will be shutting down power to select buildings on Sunday, May 23, 2021 to perform work on critical electrical distribution systems on campus.

At 6:00 am, power will be shut down to the buildings listed below for approximately 4 hours. During this outage, emergency generators will run normally.

• Erik Jonsson Academic Center (JO)
• North Office Building (NB)
• North Lab (NL)
• Machine Shop

• Physics Building (PHY) and Physics Annex (PHA)
• Sciences Building (SCI)
• Theatre (TH)

After 10:00 am, JO and TH will remain without power until approximately 10:00 pm. Everything else will come back online.

If you have any equipment in affected areas, please take the necessary precautions. Please make sure that all computers and/or sensitive equipment are turned off to prevent the loss of critical information.

For safety, no one will be allowed to enter the affected buildings during the outage without permission and an escort from the UT Dallas Police.

ROC will not be affected.

Brief Power Outage on January 11

Due to an urgent need, we will be interrupting power to the following buildings on Monday, January 11, 2021 from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. to test critical electrical equipment:
